Summer dressing can be fraught with tricky decisions - between heat waves, unexpected rain storms, overzealous indoor air-conditioning, travel, and lots of time spent outdoors (so nothing too precious!), it can be hard to know what to wear/bring along that will carry you through the day's atmospheric variables without too much fuss.
We all know layers are key, but apart from a light jacket with great pockets, our favorite layering piece for transitional summer moments is far and away a cotton sweater. There are a few brands in the Apparel store that make a great one (see: Kowtow, Szeki), but the undisputed queen of cotton around here is Demylee.
We've talked about founder Demy Lee before, back when we began carrying her line in 2021. We brought her knitwear to Cedar & Hyde because of her long history in the garment industry (having worked for Calvin Klein and Gap, Inc., and playing a key role in launching Tory Burch's first collection), and because of her thoughtful approach to production, which focuses on sustainable materials and animal welfare without compromising quality.
In the three years since, Demylee has become a staple in the Apparel store, in large part because of her incredible cotton sweaters that rarely stay in stock long. Demylee's cotton offers superb comfort while being blessedly low maintenance. Incredibly soft, yet durable and breathable, their cotton gets softer with age for a lived-in, everyday feel, and best of all - their cotton sweaters are machine washable, making them the perfect addition to your travel bag, picnic basket, beach tote, or anything else summer throws at you.
