Lauren Block founded Hey Gang in 2018 with the goal of producing timeless, practical apparel that is manufactured responsibly for all. Block worked in the fashion industry for 20 years as a buyer and store owner before pursuing her passion as a full-time designer. A year after her first daughter was born, Block was inspired to design children's clothing that had a playful personality while still emphasizing practicality and mobility. When she soon discovered that she wanted the same clothes for herself, she started her own clothing line for women.

Heritage nostalgia and vintage Americana fashion, music, and film serve as the brand's main sources of inspiration. Each piece is conceptualized and ethically manufactured in Los Angeles, California. Every fabric, including American and Japanese denim and 100% Cotton jersey, is ethically sourced.
